The World Says Good-bye to Ted Kennedy

We have lost a person whom represented the best hope in humankind. The Kennedy name means so much to the underdogs of the world. They dream of a better place for all. The death of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy gave their lives for the betterment of society. Sure they were political and far from perfect, yet they had dreams of at least trying to do something. Now, we watch the passing of their younger brother Ted M. Kennedy. This is a true lost for the voiceless.

Ted Kennedy represented our best hopes. Yeas he was liberal, but he had compassion. He understood pain and suffering. He and his family are rich, but they cared for the less fortunate. He fought for human rights.

Even the conservatives acknowledged his compassion although they did not agree with him on many issues. We can all learn from this imperfect man. Sure he had problems. Yet he always fought the good fight. We say good-bye and sail on in the dream of a better place. The world says good-bye.

Ted Kennedy wanted Health Care

Rest in peace Sen Edward Kennedy. The nation lost a real fighter for human rights. His death is the end of the old liberal ideals of a great society and new deal. The end of dreams of a nation for everyone living in brother and sisterhood. The dreams of Camelot, the perfect world.

America is the only major industrial nation with out universal health care,yet we spend more than any other nation. This was Sen. Kennedy's issue. The Kennedy Family has historically fought the losing cause. Civil Rights, Human Rights, Gay Rights, Worker Rights, Woman Rights and all of the rights that people on the right fine displeasure.

We find ourselves in a new day. A time to move forward without necessarily caring for the different and the have nots. We are caught in wars with people we do not know and for reasons unknown. Sen. Kennedy apposed these wars. I once dreamed of a perfect world. Perhaps, it is in another place other than this one. I still have hope.Life is not easy. But tomorrow is another day. Yet, there will be one less Kennedy to dream the dreams of Camelot.

Why has Health Care become WAR?

The world is fighting to end an economic recession. Germany and France appears to have turned the corner on their economic problems. Jobs are still in question due to high levels of unemployment. Yet, in The United States, health care reform has been our front page issue.

Is it that we are sicker than our willingness to work? Nearly 10% of our work force has lost their jobs. Almost 46 million people do not have health care. The public has been rather hostile at congressional town hall meetings. There are a number of people wearing arms.

The public is fighting over the idea of the government offering a public option to insure people vs. a co-op partnership between the private sector and the government. The hope is to reduce cost and make the entire system more competitive.

In conclusion, The President has lost a great deal of momentum on this particular issue. The opposition believes if they can stop health care reform, they will in turn, stop the presidency. Why is it that our culture is so war oriented? We fight when it is time to compromise. We battle when it is time to think. Perhaps we need more time to mature as a nation? The issue is simple at best. Reduce cost, cut waste and preventive coverage are the key elements to a healthier nation. Please tell me what do you think?

Guns in Public?

Lately at the past two Presidential town hall meetings, there have been several men with guns wrapped around them. I realize we have a right to bear arms. This seems to take the civilized world about 150 years backward.

Gun people to me seem insecure. Oh, I am a Big Man with a Big Gun look at me. I am a real man.

In conclusion, we all have the right to bear arms. We all have the right to public assembly. I would be really concerned if one of these Big Men and their Big Gun showed up at the PTA meeting. America has made tremendous social progress. Yet, we have many more miles to travel.

Is Health Care Reform making You Sick?

Lately there has been so much ugliness regarding health care reform. People are literally screaming in the streets. What is all of this fuss over? Is there something about health care that makes people ill?

The people hollering the most have insurance, jobs, homes and a vested interest in stepping 47 million people without health care. Why is it that we can not help these people is a real question? What if we went without 3 nuclear bombs, would this satisfy this problem?

In conclusion, we need to reduce cost and waste. Preventive medicine is one answer in the long term. Reducing taxes is another measure to give credit for having insurance. I am not sick yet. However, it is making me nervous. I hope we can reach closure on this matter and create jobs foe everyone.

Why Do We Need Money?

Recently, the question was raised as to why do we need money? After receiving some rather interesting feedback I must share some of the thinking discussed. The main idea that impressed me the most was on Star Trek (about the future) there will be no need for money.

Nevertheless, the majority of the responses stated we need money to live. Food, housing and of course the bills all need to be satisfied with money. Given the intensity of this recession, people are struggling to make ends meet. Large corporations and businesses are suffering to hold on and need government assistance.

The average person is at a real lost because the institutions we trust i.e. the banks are also shaky. Perhaps money is not what we thought it was or is, and we need new thinking about the whole idea.

I asked the question, if we had no money in the future ,would we still have poverty? The response was yes. People will still be poor and suffering. One astute person stated that in the future we will have a resource driven economy. Information will be the key. Must people and nations are in debt. The more I owe the more I have.

In conclusion, one person stated that when people lived in caves they did not need all these things. Perhaps we should all live in caves. But for now, I will get all the money I can get my hands on for now and the future. However, I would try to end poverty and ignorance at all cost. Please respond to help me on this question...
